Experience
I have been involved in the educational system for nearly two decades and worked at various levels of teaching and administration. I first started with a teaching degree for elementary grades from the University of Portland. I taught a 5th grade class for a few years and then decided to expand my teaching. I wanted to take on more students. Therefore, I got a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. I then diversified my teaching assignments and worked as 7th grade ELA and algebra teacher, assistant principal, principal, and also coordinated learning support. I have tutored individual students in addition to the formal teaching and administrative positions I have held. I personally tutor my own three children. Two are advanced learners and need a study program of more advanced academics to keep up their interest and not be bored with the slower pace set for their peer level. My third child struggles with reading and needs new approaches in learning concepts. These different types of lesson planning and tutoring for my own children have helped me to understand better ways to approach each individual student I have to tutor. I am adept to tutor in many subjects. These include math, reading, writing, geography, English, and social studies, just to name a few. I like sports like hiking, mountain biking, swimming, reading, and traveling.
