Experience
I am a graduate of Colorado State University with both classroom and individual teaching experience. I taught summer school and worked as a substitute teacher in middle school and high school classrooms. When my husband and I started a family, I homeschooled all four of our children until they finished 5th grade, and one of them continued at home through 6th grade. I also helped my older children with Math homework on a regular basis when they had difficulty with high school assignments. I liked homeschooling because I found it enjoyable to work with each child individually and be a part of their learning in all the various subjects. My greatest strengths as a teacher are my patience and my flexibility. By flexibility, I mean the ability to use various approaches to present the concepts that the students are trying to master. This could be walking them through a problem, creating pictures to illustrate a point, or finding examples from daily life to clarify the material.I am confident in my tutoring skills for elementary and middle school Math, Algebra, Geometry, and English (Reading and Grammar). In my free time, I enjoy family, traveling, sewing, reading, and crafts.
