Experience
I believe that an effective tutor is one who can motivate the students and encourage them to participate in the learning experience. While I was working as an instructor at the University of Washington, one of my top priorities was coming up with ways to keep my students engaged throughout the lesson so that they had a better understanding of the coursework. For almost three years now, I've taught countless students how to improve their study habits and succeed in the classroom. I believe that one of the most effective ways to teach is to come up with custom-tailored material that includes a lot of hands-on activities designed to connect with every type of student. Additionally, I believe that it's important to come up with material that helps students build upon the strengths that they already have, while also overcoming their weaknesses. My areas of expertise include Spanish, English as a Second Language, history, writing, and editing. I've also helped a number of people prepare for standardized tests, including the GRE and the TOEFL. Along with working face-to-face, I'm also available for online lessons as well. When I'm not spending my time working as an educator, I like to travel abroad, cook, and play soccer.
