Experience
I attended Regis University as a graduate student, where I earned my master's degree in English, with a concentration on American Literature. I now work as an English teacher in a local high school. Between my time receiving and providing education, I spent time in the US Army as a Warrant Officer, where I had the opportunity to fly a helicopter. My time in academia provided me with so much knowledge, insight, and the ability to learn and teach with an open mind. The Army taught me leadership, and also how to adapt my style of teaching to each individual audience. This has solidified my belief in having a solid base in life through knowledge and education, as well as strongly favoring learning by doing. As a tutor, I do not "give" my students information. That's already there for them to find. I see my role as more of a guide. I help students along as they discover the knowledge, which is the only way they will really learn it. I am able to tutor in a number of language arts classes, but I have a special affinity for literary analysis and writing. Outside of education, I enjoy playing soccer, fixing up my house, and hiking with my family.
