I'm pursuing a masters degree in education from the University of Arizona. I have 16 years of experience in education, and I am furthering my education because I would like to affect change in the educational system in the state of Arizona. I started out as a gym teacher, and then I became certified through Prescott College to teach general studies at the elementary and middle school level. I then taught art and math at the eighth grade level before becoming an elementary school teacher, where I taught fifth grade, fourth grade, and third grade. I then taught fifth grade at a private school. I've always enjoyed learning, and I even taught water safety and swim lessons as an undergraduate student. It feels great to help people learn something new. I believe every student is unique, and so it's my responsibility to figure out how they learn best and how to present information to them in effective ways. I like to build rapport of my students so I can understand their learning style and so that we can have open communication together. I've also been a coach at the high school level, so I'm comfortable working with students of all ages. In my free time, I like to garden, ride my bike, golf, swim, and play games with my family.
