Experience
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Astrophysics from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and am currently pursing a graduate degree in Geophysics from the University of Arizona. Between degrees I spent several years working at the National Solar Observatory in Tucson.Once I began focusing on my studies again I became a teaching assistant which has given me extensive experience in a classroom environment. I've taught classes but I have also worked on an individual basis with students to ensure they fully grasp the concepts that are being delivered during class. Tutoring those students who were not science majors has helped me develop the ability to break down complex ideas and explain them in a way that makes them more accessible to those who may not be especially strong in the field. It has been a joy to take students who were insecure about their skills in science and math and watching them gain confidence in themselves and in the fields I love. When I am not tutoring or studying for my own classes I enjoy geocaching because it lets me explore my love for the outdoors, learn more about the area around me, and discover new things from the people who came before me.
