Experience
I am a current high school teacher, and I teach English in a Tucson charter school. I also hold a license to teach high school and middle school language arts in Oregon. I attended the University of Oregon where I earned my bachelor's degree in English and Journalism. Just a couple of years ago, I spent time abroad in Beijing, China teaching grammar and writing to English language learners. There, I learned many unique and fun ways to teach the important aspects of writing. Aside from teaching, I also have years of experience tutoring. I have tutored English language arts to a wide variety of students of all ages, and I also spent a year tutoring elementary school students in phonics, math, and reading comprehension.I am very passionate about tutoring English language arts, because I find great joy in guiding students through the writing process. I love seeing a basic outline and ideas turn into a first draft and then a final draft! I enjoy helping and encouraging students every step on the way to creating a final paper they can feel proud about completing. When not teaching or tutoring, I enjoy reading, spending time with friends, watching classic television shows, and hiking.
