Experience
I attended the University of Arizona, where I earned two bachelor's in molecular biophysics and biochemistry and three doctorates in cellular and molecular biology and biochemistry. While enrolled, I tutored my peers in chemistry for one year and assisted instructors in teaching and grading classwork for five years. While working alongside professors at the school, I gained an insight knowledge of what they expect. I taught classes on nucleic acid biochemistry for majors, general chemistry, introductory biology, and other courses related to biochemistry and biology. I thoroughly enjoy sharing my knowledge of biology with others, particularly if it means helping someone develop the skills necessary to succeed in their academic goals. As an instructor, I believe it is important to understand the student's needs, strengths, weaknesses, and motivations before determining the style of teaching to use with them. Everyone learns differently. I can communicate with students in a variety of ways, even if it means explaining the same thing repeatedly in different ways. I encourage students to ask questions even if it means halting the session. I can help students prepare for exams, work through their homework, or build their understanding of early to advance concepts. In my free time, I enjoy sand volleyball, the news, running, and reading.
