I taught for 5 years at one of the top rated high schools in the country, BASIS. I enjoyed teaching, and found it very rewarding. I taught various grade levels from 8th - 12th grade, and am comfortable teaching any age. I then changed careers and worked in the finance department at a major corporation, here I was able to utilize both my Economic and Mathematical background - I often pull from this to provide a well rounded tutoring experience. I have a passion for education, particularly Economics and Math. My goal as a tutor is not only to have my students master the subject, but also to appreciate and see the applicability to the real world. I am patient and make sure my students feel comfortable asking questions. I recognize that every student is different and learns in a different way, I stay attuned to this as I am teaching new topics. I observe how the student is taking in the information and what techniques they best respond to. I enjoy the process of explaining topics a variety of ways until students understand them. I strive to ensure the best tutoring experience and maximum retention of information. In my years as a high school teacher I taught: Introductory Economics, AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics and Pre-Calculus. Each year over 70% of my students scored a 4 or 5 on AP Micro and AP Macro. I am available to tutor Economics, AP Micro, AP Macro and any math level below Pre-Calculus.
